Bruce Partain, CEO of the Longmont Chamber of Commerce made a brief presentation last night to Longmont City Council, delivering a resolution from the Board of Directors asking the City Council to pass a construction defects ordinance, just as Fort Collins and Loveland did last year.
Partain urged the Council to support legislative reform of construction defect statutes. He added that Longmont needs more affordable housing. He provided a list of requirements that should be part of any local ordinance; builder’s right to repair, requiring a majority of homeowners in a HOA to approve a lawsuit, options for monetary settlement and mediation.
Note: Council member Bonnie Finley stated her strong support for a construction defects ordinance. The rest of Council made no comments about the resolution.
