The Berthoud Hill southbound climbing lane is complete (it will be repaved and smoothed this spring), Crossroads is underway and CDOT is preparing to hire a contractor for the Phase 1 project, which will add one express toll lane in each direction between Highway 14 and Highway 402. It is anticipated the project will get a notice to proceed with the construction by January 2018. CDOT staff said the tolling and revenue calculations for Phase 1 look good, meaning CDOT can expect a decent revenue stream from the tolls, which will be used to fund more work on I-25 moving forward. The revenues from the US 35 express tolls and I-25 section 2 (just north of Denver) are exceeding the initial revenue estimates, making CDOT more comfortable with its toll formulas and calculations.
