Greeley: Candidates Emerging for Election

The municipal election for Greeley’s City Council is November 7th but already several residents have formally announced their decision to run for mayor. Tom Norton, the current mayor, is finishing his third and final 2-year term per Greeley’s City Charter. Last week Mayor Pro Tem John Gates made his decision to run public. This week, electrician and five-year resident Brandon Gerving, announced his decision to run as well.

All qualified candidates for City Council will be required to submit signature petitions in August to qualify for the ballot. In addition to the mayor’s seat, Gates’ seat representing Ward 3 will be available since he is completing his second term. If Randy Sleight decides not to run again there could be a vacancy representing Ward 2. Sandi Elder’s at-large seat will also be available since she is serving her second and final 4-year term.
