On April 21 the Transportation Commission agreed to provide an additional $50 million for I-25. The money will serve as part of the local contribution if the Federal Department of Transportation approves the TIGER grant that is part of the proposed Phase 1 project to add an additional lane between SH 14 in Fort Collins south to SH 402 just south of Loveland. This brings CDOT’s total commitment to $130 million for Phase 1. Transportation Commissioner Kathy Gilliland, formerly mayor of Loveland, was instrumental in convincing the Commission to approve the additional funding. Note: Local jurisdictions, including Fort Collins, Windsor, Loveland and Johnstown have contributed a total of $25 million as part of the local match for the grant application.
