Berthoud: Disappointing Election in Berthoud

Jeff Hindman (a former trustee), Will Karspeck, son of the former mayor ,Brian Laak and Kelly Dunkelberger won Board of Trustee seats. LBAR endorsed Dunkelberger, as well as two candidates who were not elected, Lorna Greene and incumbent trustee Dick Shepard. Pete Cowdin, a retired REALTOR, ran uncontested for mayor. This could be a very different Board from its predecessor, and it is likely new development will have a more difficult time getting approval with the election of Hindman, Laak, and Karspeck.

Ballot Questions Pass: Both ballot questions were approved by Berthoud voters in the April 5 election. The first question approved a lodging tax of 3 percent, the proceeds of which can be used for almost anything from water infrastructure to tourism. The second question continues the existing public safety mill levy (3 mills).
