So far there are seven candidates who’ve been certified as official candidates for the Boulder City Council election. They are incumbents Lisa Morzel, Suzanne Jones and Tim Plass, plus Planning Board members Aaron Brockett and Leonard May, neighborhood activist Jyotsna Raj and former Level 3 Communications executive Bob Yates.
At least two of the newcomers will join the City Council in November. Council members George Karakehian and Macon Cowles are not running for re-election.
Another six candidates have petitions, but not yet met the signature requirements to be certified for the ballot. According to the Daily Camera, they are “Parks and Recreation Advisory Board member Thomas Klenow; ‘Cha Cha’ Spinrad, a preschool teacher who lives in the Rad-ish Collective; Jeremy Bold, who also lives in the Rad-ish Collective; Comrade Keith Percy, a community activist and disabled queer poet; Edward Jabari, owner of the Secret Garden nursery and community space in north Boulder; and Toby Fernsler, who ran as a write-in candidate for Boulder County sheriff last year as ‘the Sheriff of Love.’”
