The Weld County Commissioners created a big stir recently when they announced they are leading an effort to create the new state of North Colorado. While most people believe the Commissioners aren’t serious, Board Chair Sean Conway says “it’s no stunt.”
He noted that the Commissioners intend to put this question to the voters in November. He went on to say that Northern Colorado needs to ” to change the political narrative at state capitol and let folks know how upset people are on a range of things.”
When asked about the feasibility of actually being able to pull this off, he said “Being the only state in nation with no debt, no sales tax and a valuation bigger then Denver makes this idea doable.”
Conway suggests staying tuned for more information. He indicated that the response has been overwhelmingly positive from business community but did not mention any specifics.
