Boulder County officials have been vocal in listing their concerns about oil and gas drilling and have repeatedly requested more extensive regulation. The latest news is that Boulder County Commissioner Elise Jones will debate fracking with Governor John Hickenlooper on April 1. “The goal of the 45-minute session is to provide a state vs. local perspective on the effects of fracking including concerns over public health, the natural environment, and local economic considerations.” The debate takes place in Denver at the University of Denver College of Law. It will also be live streamed from Noon to 12:45 p.m.
Note: HB-1268 “Mineral Estate Disclosure Real Property Sale” would require a property seller to disclose that, “a separate gas, oil or mineral right may be subject to extraction.” The bill is co-sponsored by three Boulder County legislators, Mike Foote, Jonathan Singer and Dickie Lee Hullinghorst. CAR’s LPC will discuss this bill Friday, March 29th at 1:30 p.m.
