On July 5th the City Council approved new guidelines for use by the Historic Preservation Commission when reviewing applications proposing to alter the exterior elevations of buildings on the Loveland Historic Register. To be added to the Register buildings must be at least 50 years old and meet other architectural requirements. (66 buildings are currently included.)
The guidelines also add provisions for processing partial demolition permits for properties on the Loveland Historic Survey and clarify process procedures. The Guidelines are voluntary, and are intended to assist property owners in designing appropriate alterations, additions, redevelopment and infill development on other properties in historic residential neighborhoods. The Guidelines include some interesting photos of “appropriate” and “inappropriate” exterior alterations and materials.
